PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan, Hulyo 19 (PIA) --- Sa tulong ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ay isasagawa ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Palawan sa Hulyo 26-27, 2019 ang Indigenous People's Games of IP Tribal Games. Gaganapin ito sa Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex sa Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa.
Layon ng programang ito na maipakita ng mga katutubo sa Palawan ang kanilang mayamang kultura maging ang kanilang cultural identity o pagkakakilanlan.
Sa pamamagitan din ng ganitong gawain ay malilinang ang kakayahan ng mga kabataang katutubo pagdating sa kanilang mga katutubong laro at maipakita din nila ang kanilang pagkakaisa bilang mga manlalaro.
Lalahukan ito ng iba't-ibang tribu sa Palawan tulad ng Batak, Palaw'an, Tagbanua at iba pa. Ang mga manlalarong katutubo ay pipiliin ng kani-kanilang mga tribal leader batay sa kakayahan ng mga ito.
Matutunghayan din dito ang galing ng mga katutubo sa mga laro tulad ng pana, supok, pabilisan sa pag-akyat sa puno, pabilisan sa pagtakbo at marami pang iba.
Kasabay ng IP Traditional Sports and Games Competition ay magkakaroon din ng isang forum na dadaluhan ng mga estudyante, mga guro at mga empleyado mula sa munisipyo at isang Photo Exhibit Contest na lalahukan naman ng mga amateur at professional photographers.
Nakasaad sa Section 29 ng Republic Act 8371 o ang Indigenous People's Rights Act of 1997, ang karapatan ng mga katutubo para protektahan at i-preserba ang kanilang kultura, tradisyon, at institusyon ay kailangang respetuhin, kilalanin at ingatan ng estado.
Katuwang ng pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Palawan sa pagsasagawa ng IP Tribal Games ang National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Department of Tourism (DOT), Local Government Units (LGUs), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP).
