LOS ANGELES, California: After remaining closed for nearly a year, California officials released new rules on Friday that would allow theme parks, stadiums and entertainment destinations to open on April 1.
This would include the opening of California's Disneyland.
However, stringent rules will remain in place to prevent the spread of the Covid infection.
For instance, theme and amusement parks would have to abide by greatly reduced seating. And while the opening date is set for April 1, they could only open their gates if the counties they are located in have been removed from the purple code, the most stringent category for lockdown restrictions.
Other rules would include that attendance be limited to 15 to 35 percent of normal. Plus masks and other measures would be required among the public and staffs.
This would apply to the state's baseball parks, as well.
In fact, all of California's baseball stadiums are located in areas designated as red zones, which would restrict seating in stadiums to 20 percent.
As for theme parks, it is expected they will reopen with only 15 percent of capacity allowed.
In a statement, Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, said the new California openings will result in "getting thousands of people back to work and greatly helping neighboring businesses and our entire community."
