Pressure wave therapy
Pressure wave therapy is a very effective treatment method: High-energy sound waves are introduced into painful areas of the body. It is one of the most advanced and highly effective non-invasive treatment methods approved by the FDA. The treatment helps improve potential regeneration and improve blood flow to regenerate damaged tissue. Pressure wave technology, also known as PEMF, can successfully treat both acute and chronic pain, such as knee pain, heel pain, foot pain, ankle pain, thigh pain, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, wrist pain, and hand pain. It is also used for trigger point therapy, treating sports injuries, scar tissue, stress fractures, improving bone healing, sexual function, and more. The beneficial effects often come after just 1 or 2 treatments and there is no downtime. Non-surgical pain therapy eliminates pain and restores mobility, rapidly improving patients' quality of life.
BENEFITS OF PRESSURE WAVE Therapy
Side effects
With that brief background, several components of radial pressure wave therapy may have potential side effects for the patient.
3 FACTS ABOUT PRESSURE WAVE THERAPY
1: PEMF therapy is designed as a therapeutic modality that uses focused pressure waves. The maximum energy is in the therapeutic range and the depth of penetration can be adjusted. Radial pressure wave therapy does not meet these criteria and is therefore not an ESWT. In summary, the shocking truth is that radial devices cannot produce adequate shock waves, and calling radial pressure waves shock wave therapy is misleading.
2: Due to radial propagation, there is no focus for radial pressure waves. Radial pressure waves are strongest at the tissue entrance and then fade away very quickly. Radial pressure waves are used efficiently only for less than 1 cm penetration. Pressures greater than 1 MPa generated by the lowest power setting for the radial device are found in an area that is 10 mm in radius (corresponding to the radius of the radial head) and less than 1 cm (10 mm) in the axial direction the applicator head (positioned on the left side of the map).
3: Extracorporeal waves are acoustically generated pressure waves. Radial pressure waves differ from other acoustic waves because they have a lower frequency. There are many examples of these sonic pulse waves in real life. A good example is thunder that follows lightning. A more everyday version of a shock wave is one created by hand-clapping and its effect is a plane that breaks the sound barrier, producing an audible pop and can cause the glass to break even in distant areas.
