Side effects

With that brief background, several components of radial pressure wave therapy may have potential side effects for the patient.

• Patients can experience several common side effects. Swelling, Transient pain, and bruising of the area being treated, and surface skin redness may occur. Small blood vessels may bleed and cause superficial bruising in the treatment area. Deep tissue pain can occur. Healing can be delayed by taking certain medications, especially anti-inflammatory drugs.
• The person receiving pressure wave therapy may experience temporary discomfort. Although transducers have gotten smaller, positioning the body to allow optimal focusing of the pressure waves can require some uneasiness.
• A gel can be used to allow the transducer to transmit pressure waves directly to the skin. The result can be temporary allergic reactions.
• Patients may feel slight pain in the stimulated tissues. A doctor can minimize pain by changing the position of the transducer or the amount of stimulation used. 3 FACTS ABOUT PRESSURE WAVE THERAPY

1: PEMF therapy is designed as a therapeutic modality that uses focused pressure waves. The maximum energy is in the therapeutic range and the depth of penetration can be adjusted. Radial pressure wave therapy does not meet these criteria and is therefore not an ESWT. In summary, the shocking truth is that radial devices cannot produce adequate shock waves, and calling radial pressure waves shock wave therapy is misleading.
